Layerformer started off as development as a one off level mechanic for Another Cube Platformer Game (which was just a generic platformer), but I ended up enjoying the mechanic so much that I just decided to stop working on ACPG and work on Layerformer instead. I feel like it was for the better that I dropped ACPG and worked on Layerformer, since ACPG had nothing unique to it and i could rework some of the mechanics I made for it into Layerformer. Hell, I even reference 2 of the levels from ACPG in Layerformer as well.
You can see a very early demo of the mechanic when I was first developing it from September 25th 2020 by clicking here.
